I must warn you – I am NOT a social media expert. I bet you know more about it than I do. I work in PR, but have always avoided new media out of fear. My social media expertise involves messaging my friends or checking out pictures of people I really shouldn’t be looking at (otherwise known as Facebook stalking).
But let’s face it. New media isn’t going away anytime soon. The way we communicate is changing and the way brands market themselves has evolved. And if we don’t change, we could get left behind. GASP
Take me as an example. I’ve known for years that I needed to learn new media to enhance my PR career, but have always found it too overwhelming to get started. Now that I’ve been tapped for a new job to run my division’s social media strategy, I have no choice but to jump right in..head first!
Follow me on my journey as I get serious about social media. Hopefully I’ll be able to shed some light on all the information and opinions that are out there so you can take what you learn and apply it in your job.
But don’t worry, I’ll be sure to have some fun along the way too, and share some stories about my personal adventures with social media as well.
Either way, I promise you’ll learn something!
